A primary objective of the UK Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy is to make the UK a safer place to conduct business online, and since 2014 all suppliers must be compliant with the new Cyber Essentials controls if bidding for government contracts which involve handling of sensitive and personal information and provision of certain technical products and services.
An assessment framework was developed to support the Government’s Cyber Essentials scheme, and by deploying these controls, organisations can defend against the most common form of basic cyber attacks originating from the Internet.
This shows that digital risks are managed with the right preventative strategies in place, and once an organisation is fully compliant they receive a certificate to indicate to current and potential stakeholders that they have safety measures in place.
There are two levels of certification – Cyber Essentials, and Cyber Essentials Plus.
And with these you can demonstrate a substantial and competitive advantage over others in your industry as you will be able to offer unparalleled security and lower risk solutions to your stakeholders, backed up by expertise, experience, knowledge, tech and digital know-how, credibility, and being a committed and ‘safe pair of hands’.
